1. Dustin Pedroia – ROY followed by MVP. Can’t say much more than that.
2. Chase Utley – Tremendous homerun power for a second basemen; four consecutive 20+ HR and 100+ RBI.
3. Brian Roberts – All around player. Great at defense, steals bases, scores runs. Does all the things a leadoff hitter should do year in and year out.
4. Ian Kinsler - Hits for average, gets on base and scores a ton of runs while stealing 20+ bases. Needs to a full healthy season under his belt though.
5. Brandon Philips – Known for his defense, he has really stepped it up offensively in the last two seasons with 30 and 21 HRs respectively.
On Deck: Dan Uggla
In the Hole: Alexi Ramirez
Off the Bench: Orlando Hudson

Jay your out of your mind not even a mention of Robinson Cano as one of the top 8 in the game? I know he had an offseason last year but there is no way he is not in the top 8.
Point taken, but he got lost in the shuffle with me. These other guys just came to mind. Cano struggled big time last year, we will see if he can recover this year. I would put him in the top 10 though fo’ sho’.
Granted he is only entering his 5th major league season, he is still a career .304 hitter and has a career .982 fielding percentage, but atleast you can admit he got lost in the shuffle haha. I think you anti-yankee fans just dont like to give Yankee players credit cause it hurts to do so haha.
You hit the nail on the head Pat, haha. I am a Yankee hater at heart and I apologize. I try not to hate or be biased but sometimes it just gets the best of me.
Robinson Cano is definitely NOT a top 8 second baseman. Maybe borderline top 15.
Ouch! Bold statement Mike.. would anyone put Skip Schumaker in there? haha
How is Jimmy Bataille not in there!!! Dude makes plays at 2nd barehanded!
How about Astrubal Carberra. His is the only player in the major leagues to play in a playoff game and to be named Astrubal…This is a Joe Buck fact!
That fact was confirmed by Tim Kurkjian.
Haha, Joe Buck sucks.
