Behind A-Rod and CC, Yanks Lead ALCS 3-1

As much as I want to deny it, you can basically put it in the books that 2009 will be an east coast World Series featuring the Phillies and Yankees.  While the book is open, you might as well just pencil the Yankees in for their 27th World Championship because this team looks UNSTOPPABLE.  I just hate admitting that in writing.

This game was so lopsided and if you didn’t take a look at the box score the game wound up being a 10-1 Yankees win with CC nearly going the distance after flat out dominating the Angels.  A-Roid hit another homerun and now has 5 this postseason after having just 4 from 04-07.  I don’t understand how a guy who, other than Barry Bonds, is the biggest cheater in baseball is rewarded by hitting homeruns and possibly winning a championship this year (not to mention $252 million).  It’s unbelievable… is there a God?  Why is this guy being rewarded so handsomely?  Does this make anyone else angry that he has proved he can hit homeruns without steroids but STILL chose to take them regardless?  What a fool, now I am getting sidetracked.

Anyway, Scott Kazmir pitched for the Angels and has been as far from how I thought he would do in the playoffs as you could possibly imagine.  Kazmir has pitched 10 innings this postseason and has given up 11 runs, 11 hits and 7 walks.  That will NOT help you win ballgames especially coming from their #2/#3 starter.  CC Sabathia, on the other hand, has done a 180 from how he has pitched in the playoffs in the past.  Sabathia pitched just 3.2 IP in last year’s NLDS but that was after 3 straight starts on 3 days rest.  Now Sabathia looks rejuvenated after getting rest at the end of the season because no team posed a threat to the Yankees which made rest possible.

Chris already went over the terrible calls in this game, but the Angels are so flat this series it doesn’t even matter if 10 calls went their way.  Juan Rivera is 2-17 in the ALCS and just 5-38 in the postseason, where the heck has he been?  Not to mention, he has stranded a load of players on base in each game of this series.  Bobby Abreu, who carried the Angles in the ALDS going 5-9, is 2-16 in the ALCS, where the heck has he been?  Figgins and Morales are also each 2-16 which is pathetic, half of the team is batting .125 and with the way the Yankee starters have been you aren’t going to get away with poor performances like that.

A site for sore eyes.

A site for sore eyes.

CC Sabathia is 3-0 in the 2009 postseason so far and has yielded just 3 runs in over 24 innings.  On Tuesday night, he shut down the Angels yet again going 8 innings giving up 1 earned on just 5 hits with the lone run coming on a Morales homerun in the 5th.  Up until that point, the Angels only had 1 hit through 4 and Kazmir was walking batters left and right.  It was just another one of those games where you knew the Yankees were going to win after just 3 innings of play.  Johnny Damon has turned it on as of late and had the last nail in the coffin hit with a 2-run homer in the 8th inning to basically put the game out of reach.

What the loss means for the Angels:  Pack your bags, it’s time to STAY home after game 5.  Maybe someone in their hotel forgot to give the Angels their wakeup call because they are still sleeping!

What the win means for the Yankees:  Their going to Disneyworld.  But seriously, if they don’t win the World Series this would be one of the biggest upsets in history.  And yes, I am writing the Angels off already.

I feel like I’ve waited 5 years for Arod to have this kind of post season and now that he’s finally having it it feels sort of surreal.
And not to jump ahead but this would only be the 27th World Series for the Yankees.

I honestly think I was thinking earlier to myself, they are going to win it for the next two years AT LEAST, haha.
