Jeter Leads Yanks Over Chi Sox, Mets Roll Against Phillies, Rays Finally Lose
Yankees 6, White Sox 4
The Captain stepped up tonight. Jeter had a 2 run homer in the 5th to tie it, then a 2 run triple in the 7th to put them up. Jeter’s consistency is unbelievable. Most people forget that he is now 35 years old and not the young prodigy he once was. In the previous 14 seasons, Jeter has hit .300 in all of them but 3. His worst season average was .291. Rivera saved his 7th game of the year and has yet to give up a run. Now that I said that, he’ll probably give one up next time he pitches but oh well. Paul Konerko hit another homer. He now leads the entire league with 11.
Mets 9, Phillies 1
Are you kidding me? The Mets are on absolute fire right now. Rod Barajas had 2 homers in the offensive explosion. The fact that the Mets are on such a hot streak is mind boggling to me. I refuse to admit they are this good. For some reason I doubt that they are going to keep this up much longer. The Phillies are so much more talented than them and once the Phils decide to wake up, they should run away from the Mets in the division. Tomorrow might be a different outcome as Roy Halladay gets the start.
Royals 3, Rays 2
Coming into the game the Rays had won 5 in a row and 14 of their last 16. They finally lose one against KC. Longoria provided all of the offense for the Rays with a homer and a sac fly. The Royals broke a 1-1 tie in the 9th with hits from Alberto Callaspo and Mitch Maier. Tampa Bay is definitely the real deal this season. Their pace to start the season has been amazing. Hopefully for the Yankees sake they’ll cool off.
