Cain Dominates Rockies, Halladay Leads Phillies, Yanks Fall To Chi Sox

Giants 6 Rockies 1

Matt Cain went 8 innings giving up only 1 hit and no runs against Colorado.  San Fran got homers from Juan Uribe, Bengie Molina, and Aubrey Huff.  If Cain can pitch like he did today, the Giants could have one of the best 3-some of starters with Cain, Lincecum, and Zito.  I’m a big fan of the Giants mostly because Lincecum is the most exciting pitcher in the league.  Imagine this team in a playoff series with those pitchers.  They could be real tough to beat if they can find a way to get in.

Phillies 10 Mets 0

Roy Halladay threw a typical Halladay game today.  The Phillies ace went the distance throwing a complete game, 3 hit shutout.  Halladay is such a monster.  It seems like every time he pitches he throws a complete game.  The series is now tied at 1 game a piece and the Mets will have Johan on the hill tomorrow.  I look forward to seeing these teams play all year and hopefully they can both beat up on each other.  I’m still pulling for the Braves to take the division.  The Phils rocked Mike Pelfrey today who has been great so far.  His streak of scoreless consecutive innings was broken today at 27.

White Sox 7 Yankees6

After falling behind 5-1 because of another bad outing by Javy Vazquez, the Yankees came back late and took the lead on Nick Swisher’s homer to go up 6-5.  AJ Pierzynski added a go ahead double and Bobby Jenks closed it out.  The worst thing for the Yankees today wasn’t the loss itself but rather Curtis Granderson injuring his groin and having to leave the game.  He is expected to go on the DL.  Granderson started out the season great, but has recently been struggling.  Another terrible sign was Vazquez’s continuing stuggles.  He hasn’t been the same pitcher he’s been in the past and needs to find himself soon.  On the bright side, Brett Gardner is proving that he is ready to be an everyday impact player this year.  So far hes batting .333 with a .403 OBP.  He also leads the league with 11 steals.  If Gardner keeps his OBP up, theres no reason why he can’t steal 50-60 bases.
