Sunday’s Interleague Games Highlighted by Walkoffs, Homers and More Offense!

The first wave of interleague games are over after Sunday’s games around the MLB. We had our fair share of great games this weekend, and Sunday was no different! Here is a quick look at each game that Sunday had to offer!

Cardinals 6, Angels 5 (10 innings) – Felipe Lopez completed the comeback with a longgg single to the centerfield wall. Interesting note, the Angels actually moved their centerfielder in to play the infield (yes, five infielders). Obviously it didn’t’ work, as Lopez drilled a ball to the wall.

Red Sox 8, Phillies 3 – The Phillies did not look good the last two days, and that now includes Roy Halladay. Doc gave up six earned runs for his third loss of the year. Meanwhile, Tim Wakefield picked up his first win since having 11 in the first half of last season. Towards the end of the game, I could hear the Philly phans chanting, “Let’s go Flyers!”

Indians 4, Reds 3 – A win by the Indians? WOW. The Reds are now out of first place in the NL Central as a result of losing to a miserable team from O-lame-o.

Cubs 5, Rangers 4 – Carlos Silva is 6-0 for the Cubbies after this win. I wonder who got the best of that Silva for Milton Bradley trade with Seattle?

Nationals 4, Orioles 3 (10 innings) – The Nationals took care of business (as they should have) in DC, as they beat the O’s in 10. Josh Willingham ended it with a homer to left field. Ah, The Hammer.

Marlins 13, White Sox 0 – A pounding in the Windy City, as the Marlins beat the ChiSox at their own game – with homeruns. Florida hit five homeruns, including two from little Cody Ross, who had his socks up high for some reason.

Rays 10, Astros 6 – David Price wasn’t sharp at all, but the Rays were able to pull out the win. It was an offensive onslaught by the road Rays, who totaled 15 hits in the comeback win.

Rockies 11, Royals 7 – First off, Zack Greinke was terrible. Secondly, Dexter Fowler lost his glove trying to make a catch at the wall after his glove fell off over the fence. What did he do? He jumped over the 8-foot fence to get it back, haha.

Brewers 4, Twins 3 – Not a good game for the Twins, who left 14 men on base at home. Also, they left the bases loaded to end the game after a four-pitch walk to Jim Thome. It came down to Trevor Plouffe, who had only three days ML experience, and he struck out to end the game.

Pirates 3, Braves 2 (10 innings) – Ryan Doumit hit a walkoff shot in the tenth inning for the Pittsburgh win. No one watched this lone NL game, even Braves and Pirates fans. Oh wait, Pirates fans wouldn’t be watching it anyway.

Athletics 3, Giants 0 – As soon as the Giants fell one run behind late in this game, I knew it was over. The Giants offense is pathetic and it will prevent them from making the playoffs this year.

Tigers 6, Dodgers 2 – Magglio Ordonez slammed two homers in this game, which reminds me of when he wasn’t even a sure shot to finish the season with the Tigers last season. Another note, Rick Porcello either caught or got hit with three line drives this game! YIKES!

Padres 8, Mariners 1 – The Padres continue to win games they should win. Mat Latos was very good and the offense took their frustrations out on the Mariners’ bullpen.

Blue Jays 12, Diamondbacks 4 – This series belonged to Edwin Encarnacion, who hit FIVE homeruns in THIS series alone! That’s absolutely incredible. Personally, I would have settled for just one homerun in any of my little league games growing up!
