Interleague Weekend Preview – Jun 11

10 June 2010 202 views No Comment

Interleague play returns to the MLB this weekend! Check out some of the best and most intriguing matchups of the weekend RIGHT NOW!

Chicago White Sox @ Chicago Cubs – The battle of ChiTown starts in the North Side. These two teams truly hate each other, but who can blame them? Both of these teams are easy to hate (i.e. AJ Pierzynski and Carlos Zambrano) so why wouldn’t they hate each other!

Houston @ NY Yankees – The last time these two teams met in New York the Astros threw a combined no-hitter. In 2003, Roy Oswalt started the game and left due to injury, but the bullpen combined for a six-man no-hitter. Man, what’d I give for that to happen again!

Washington @ Cleveland – This series means nothing to me, but Sunday’s game features Stephen Strasburg so it has national attention! In his second career start, he gets to face another bad team. Will he strike out more than 14 this time??

Florida @ Tampa Bay – If only Florida was a state that was worth battling for. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Rays swept the Marlins back down to Miami.

Philadelphia @ Boston – These two teams play each other as often as the Yankees and Red Sox. Seriously though, why would they play each other both of the first two weekends of interleague play?

Atlanta @ Minnesota – It’s a rematch of the 1991 World Series! This time they meet in Minnesota again, but it’s outdoors! What a difference 19 years makes…

LA Angels @ LA Dodgers – It’s the Freeway Series! I live in the NY area, so I guess I don’t understand how important this series is. Any Los Angeles peeps want to let me know?

Oakland @ San Francisco –Battle of the Bay, part two. Last time these two teams met, the Giants just flat out couldn’t score runs. Can they get any runs at home this time?
