Rangers Acquire Molina From Giants

Photo courtesy of APThe Texas Rangers are arguably the hottest team in baseball of late and they have what I consider a top 5 offense in baseball and it’s going to get better.  They have acquired former Giants-great Bengie Molina in exchange for RP Chris Ray and a player to be named later.  The Rangers haven’t had a good hitting catcher since the Ivan Rodriguez days!  Molina provides a lot of offensive power and the Rangers catchers were hitting about .230 as a unit this year.

The trade allows for Giants prospect Buster Posey to get every day at bats in the catcher slot (his original position) instead of take at bats away from Aubrey Huff and have to sit more frequently.  I think this trade is great for both teams because the Giants dump Molina who was prevent Posey from getting ABs and the Rangers finally found that offensive catcher they have been looking for.
