You know things are going bad when you win a game, and then you are fired shortly after it.
That’s the case for Trey Hillman, who was fired after the Royals defeated the Indians 6-4 on Thursday. The Royals are currently 12-23, even after the win on Thursday, and are 10.5 games out of first place in the AL Central. Hillman leaves with a 152-207 record overall, with a team that really wasn’t going anywhere to start with.
In Thursday’s game, Zack Greinke finally earned his first win, at least Hillman got …

The following is simply a personal manifestation of a favorite player of mine who I feel doesn’t get credit for the things that he has put an incredible amount of work into. That player is Yadier Molina, who has put an incredible amount of effort into every single aspect of being a catcher and a complete baseball player.
Behind the backstop, Yadier Molina, 26, has improved his game from a defensive minded catcher to becoming a gold glove quality fielder. He blocks every ball in the dirt, whether a there are …

It’s been one heck of a week for Milton Bradley up in Seattle. Then again, when doesn’t Milton have a wild week, ever?
After striking out in the sixth inning of a game last Tuesday, Mariners OF Milton Bradley had enough. He literally pulled himself out of the game and told manager Don Wakamatsu that he would be leaving the stadium. Bradley then proceeded to literally leave the ballpark well before the game was over. I’ve never heard of anything like this, ever. To actually take yourself out of a game …

With all of the big 2011 free agent to be NL first basemen, one name is sort of slipping under the radar in terms of moving teams. Astros 1B Lance Berkman won’t be a free agent after next season along with names like Albert Pujols, Prince Fielder, and Adrian Gonzalez, but he could be on the market as soon as this season.
With the Houston Astros playing so poorly and a patented second-half surge seeming more and more unlikely, Berkman was asked if he would be willing to waive his no-trade …

Dallas Braden can’t seem to let his beef with A-Rod go. A few weeks ago Rodriguez cut across the mound on his way back to first and Braden lost his temper. After lashing out at each other after that game, everything seemed to be over until now. Braden said in an interview, “There are things that are going to have to happen… Out of respect to my teammates, out of respect to the game. I think he’s probably garnered a new respect for the unwritten rules and the people who …

This Mother’s Day weekend kicks off with some great matchups around the majors. A handful of weeks into the season, this has to be the best weekend so far. Check out these great games!
NY Yankees @ Boston – I have to start with this series, even though I really don’t want to. But actually, should I even be starting with it? The Red Sox are in fourth place in the AL East, but then again, they have played well against the Angels this week. I would expect some fireworks in …

The following video is one of the craziest things I’ve ever seen at a sporting event. This ranks up there with the fight a few years ago in Detroit when Ron Artest ran into the stands to settle a score with fans in the NBA. A Phillies fan ran onto the field during the first of four games vs. the Cardinals in Citizen Bank Park. Ok, no big deal that happens once a season and the guy is arrested. This 17-year old fan apparantly called his Dad before running onto the field …

This Weekend Preview features a bunch of surprise teams that are playing pretty well right now. Watch some baseball this weekend, you won’t regret it!
LA Angels @ Detroit – Both teams have been chipping away at their deficits in their respective divisions. I wouldn’t have liked this matchup in the first week or two of the season because both teams were playing poorly, but now they are fighting and could be in first place by the end of the weekend!
NY Mets @ Philadelphia – Who knew that this series would …

What took so long?
It was announced on Wednesday that multiple changes will be made to the All-Star Game rosters starting this year. Here is a listing of the changes (my analysis will be afterwards):
One extra player on each roster.
Designated hitter will be used in both AL and NL ballparks.
One player on each team may re-enter the game after being taken out.
Pitchers who pitch the Sunday before the game will not be active and their roster spot will be replaced.
So again I ask: What took so long?
Bud Selig got it right …
