Put yourself in this position…
You’re a very good professional athlete making $10 million per year, but you had to leave your last team because things just didn’t work out. You weren’t happy, didn’t perform, and the fans absolutely resented you for everything until you were run out of town. Your new team is up and coming and they are welcoming you with open arms.
Then, it’s only a handful of games into the new season with that new team, and you are practically doing everything you can to blow it.
It’s just …

It’s About Pace, Not Time
MLB Commissioner Bud Selig had some words on umpire Joe West’s comments about the speed of Yankees/Red Sox games, but it wasn’t the kind of response I was looking for. Selig said:
“It isn’t the time of the game, it’s the pace of the game. That’s the point.”
So basically, it isn’t anything that you could measure, but if you are watching a game and yawning, then we have a problem. I said this before, but West was completely out of line in making those comments. That is …

Barry Bonds doesn’t make it a point to come out in public anymore. He doesn’t want to face the constant barrage of questions linking him to steroids and cheating in regard to all of his homers and record-breaking moments.
Sound familiar?
This is exactly what Mark McGwire did up until this past offseason when he decided to accept the St. Louis Cardinals hitting coach job. Although, McGwire knew that coming back into the limelight of a 162 game season would inevitably catch up to him – due to the media repeatedly quizzing …

You’re Not Allowed to Second-Guess a Genius
Whoops, I didn’t mean genius, I meant Ozzie Guillen. After bunting in the seventh and ninth innings with his number two hitter Gordon Beckham in Friday’s game vs. Minnesota, the critics have come out in disagreement of the fiery manager’s moves. Ozzie doesn’t care – at all:
“You don’t want to watch the way I manage this ballclub, be a Cub fan or talk about something else. I don’t want to tell people why I do stuff and why I did it…. All those idiots …

First weekend of the new season and some big time battles are already here! Check out some of the best matchups of this weekend!
Atlanta @ San Francisco – These two teams have one immediate identity: pitching. The hurlers on these clubs make you eager for a 1-0 game! Could there be less than 10 runs scored in the entire series? Well, probably not, but that’d be pretty interesting. FYI – there’s only one undefeated team left in the majors: San Fran.
NY Yankees @ Tampa Bay – I’m tired of Yankees/Red …

Big Papi Frustrated w/Reporters Reminders of ’09
Two games in, zero hits. Reason to worry? No, unless you have a history of slow starts apparently.
Red Sox DH David Ortiz went hitless after two games, and when reporters reminded him of last year’s early struggles, he flipped:
“You guys wait ’til [expletive] happens, then you can talk [expletive]. Two [expletive] games, and already you [expletives] are going crazy. What’s up with that, man? [Expletive]. [Expletive] 160 games left. That’s a [expletive]. One of you [expletives] got to go ahead and hit for me.”

Baseball. Opening Day. Let’s gooooo.
This sacred day has come for all of us who live, breathe, and CRAVE baseball! It’s Opening Day; the day in which players and fans of each team optimistically looks forward to the season ahead (with the exception of fans of the Pirates, Royals, and Nationals). Just in time too, seems like Spring Training sticks around just long enough. Players are eager to get the season under way and fans are eager to push their team toward October.
Personally, I look forward to watching as many of …

As Opening Day approaches, I was wondering if we would hear anything about our president throwing out a first pitch. Actually, more than just that, I was wondering where he would be to throw this pitch.
I guess someone heard me.
It was announced on Monday that President Barack Obama will be throwing out the ceremonial first pitch at the Nationals’ season opener on Monday, April 5 in DC. It will mark the 100th anniversary of a president throwing out the first pitch on Opening Day (1910 – William Howard Taft). But …
