Nasty 9: Top 5 Second Basemen

1. Dustin Pedroia – ROY followed by MVP.  Can’t say much more than that.
2. Chase Utley – Tremendous homerun power for a second basemen; four consecutive 20+ HR and 100+ RBI.
3. Brian Roberts – All around player.  Great at defense, steals bases, scores runs.  Does all the things a leadoff hitter should do year in and year out.
4. Ian Kinsler – Hits for average, gets on base and scores a ton of runs while stealing 20+ bases.   Needs to a full healthy season under his belt though.

Nasty 9: Top 5 First Basemen

1. Albert Pujols – Best player in the game, flat out.  Two time MVP, by the time he is done he may go down as the best hitter of all time.
2. Miguel Cabrera – Five full years in the bigs and has hit at least 33 HRs in 5 of them and driven in at least 112 in all of them.  Career averages: .311-.383-.544.  Off the charts.  As good as his offense is, is how bad his defense is.

Nasty 9: Top 5 Catchers

These are my top 5 players at each position in Major League Baseball.  Offense and defense were both considered while I made my rankings, but certain players’ exceptional offensive and defensive abilities alone moved them up or down and in and out of my list.  Leave comments with your top 5!
1. Joe Mauer – Winner of two batting titles in the last three years.  Throws out 40% of runners for career.
