For the second time this year, Interleague play resides over the majors. Friday night had some history and great games. Let’s get to it:
Red Sox 12, Phillies 2 – As good as the Red Sox offense was on Friday night, Phillies SP Jamie Moyer was that BAD. The 87-year-old Moyer couldn’t get any outs in the second inning with nine runs already crossing the plate. Welcome back to the American League, Jamie. They missed you.
Twins 2, Braves 1 – Francisco Liriano did his thing against the Braves. That is, he …

Busy day in the MLB before interleague play comes back on Friday. Here is highlights of EVERY game on the Thursday schedule!
Reds 7, Giants 6 – Once again, the Reds proved that the game isn’t over until it’s OVER. And usually you can replace the word ‘over’ with ‘when the Reds take a lead in the late innings’. Cincinnati scored three runs in the eighth to take another one-run home win and continue to roll and control first place in the NL Central. Seriously, the Reds amaze me. I feel …

Indians 11, Red Sox 0
It was 3-0 Indians going into the 8th inning but after the 8th it was 11-0. The first 9 Indians reached base in the bottom of the 8th which included a grand slam from Travis Hafner. Justin Masterson, who the Red Sox traded in the deal that sent Victor Martinez to Boston, threw a complete game, 2 hit shutout in the first time e faced his old team. Dustin Pedroia is only hitting .248 on the season with a .330 OBP. He needs to start playing …

Padres 3, Phillies 1
As soon as thePhillies seemed to be coming out of their offensive slump, they only manage to score 1 run against the Padres on Monday Night Baseball. With their recent struggles it’s important that Philly gets good pitching, but not even Cole Hamels great performance was enough. Hamels took a no hitter into the 7th inning before giving up a 1 out solo homer to Adrian Gonzalez. Gonzo later added another solo shot. I never thought that by the first week of June that the Phillies would …

There were so many great games on Sunday in the MLB that I can’t decide which ones to cover. So why not cover them all?
Yankees 4, Blue Jays 3 – A game that was dominated by the starting pitchers came down to the bullpens. Javy Vazquez had a no-hitter into the sixth, but lost it on a Vernon Wells homerun. Brandon Morrow was terrific in seven innings for the Jays, but the bullpen couldn’t hold it. As for the Yankees bullpen, they have Mariano Rivera, so you know it was …

Rangers 6, Rays 1
Josh Hamilton’s homer helped Texas get by Tampa on Saturday night and the Rangers continued their dominance over the Rays. Since the start of 2009, Tampa is just 1-7 against the Rangers on the road and have been outscored 64-27 over that span. What a crazy stat. I know the Rays had an off year last year but you wouldn’t expect them to be that bad against a mediocre team. Rays catcher John Jaso batted leadoff for the Rays becoming the first catcher in the team’s history …

The weekend is here and Friday brought us a handful of great games within some competitive series. Here are some quick wraps from games throughout the majors!
Phillies 3, Padres 2 – Last time Roy Halladay was on the mound, he pitched the 20th (and still the last) perfect game in major league history. On Friday, he threw seven innings but allowed ten hits to the Padres. Keep in mind though, this is a first place San Diego team, so a win is a win – especially with how …

Yankee 6, Orioles 3
The Yanks finished a 3 game sweep of Baltimore this afternoon with another impressive win. CC Sabathia went 7 innings of 3 hit, 3 run ball before Joba worked a scoreless 8th and Rivera a scoreless 9th. The Yankees finished up a 7 game road trip by going 6-1. On the other side, the rumor is that Orioles manager Dave Trembley will soon be fired after multiple losing seasons. It’ll be interesting to see who the O’s go afer for this job. Maybe Cal Ripken? They do …

Rays 7, Blue Jays 6
The Rays scored 4 runs in the 9th inning to beat Toronto. Every time I look at scored for the day it seems the Rays put up another W. Seriously, they’re 35-18 and I don’t think I have ever wrote about them losing. They’re such a solid team from top to bottom, I’m really not sure how they missed out on the playoffs last year with almost the same roster. Also, when you’re talking about good teams in the AL East, it doesn’t stop after the …

Yankees 11, Indians 2
A-Rod broke the game open with his 20th career grand slam. He now only trails Manny Ramirez and Lou Gehrig on the all time list, On the day he went 3-4 with 6 RBI. The way it happened absolutely shocked me and was one of the worst moves I’ve seen this year. With first base open, Cleveland decided to walk Mark Teixeira and try to get out of the inning with a double play. This was one of the dumbest moves I’ve ever seen. Teixeira is hitting …
