Twins ‘Slam’ Rivera and Yankees, Dodgers Secure Narrow Sweep, Reds Take First Place

Twins 6, Yankees 3
What a way to end a 9-game losing streak to the Yankees!
Going into the eighth inning, the Twins were in a situation they’ve been in for years against NY. It was 3-1 and there was really no hope for the future of the game. I mean even if they took a lead, odds are they’d blow it right?
That was the difference on Sunday. After the bases were loaded in the eighth, the Yankees brought in their hall of fame closer Mariano Rivera to end the threat and …

Super Saturday: Civil Rights Game, Walkoffs, Pitching Gems, and More!

Full schedule on Saturday in the MLB, including the Civil Rights Game in Cincinnati. Here is a quick wrap-up of every game on the schedule!

Yankees 7, Twins 1 – What else is new? The Twins are now 3-24 at Yankee Stadium since 2002 after another loss on Saturday. Andy Pettitte returned from injury to throw nearly seven great innings. I’m tired of watching the Twins humiliate themselves against the Yankees (and I’m sure Jason is too).

Blue Jays 6, Rangers 0 – Ricky Romero was absolutely superb for the Blue Jays …

A-Rod Leads Yanks Over Twins…Again, Marlins Rock Oliver Perez, Jays Win Shootout in Canada

Yankees 8, Twins 4
A-Clutch comes through again.  With the bases loaded in the 7th inning A-Rod blasted one to left that put the Yankees up for good.  It was his 587th homer of his great career, putting him in sole possesion of 7th on the all time homerun list.  Twins manager Ron Gardenhire walked Teixeira to load the bases for A-Rod with Matt Guerrier on the mound.  This move didn’t really make any sense because A-Rod was 4-6 with 3 homers against Guerrier before tonights grand slam.  Rodriguez is also 4-4 with 2 …

Orioles Win on Walkoff Out, Latos Nearly Perfect, and Aces All Over!

Nowhere near a full MLB schedule on Thursday, but there were so many great games. Let’s get right to it!
Orioles 6, Mariners 5
What a wild game in Baltimore!

The Orioles were not able to do anything early in the game against Mariners SP Felix Hernandez, but it was the Seattle bullpen that couldn’t do the same. Mariners reliever Brandon League was out of his league after allowing an eighth inning leadoff homer to Corey Patterson, followed by a grand slam to Luke Scott. You know the Orioles fans have been waiting …

Yankees Split Doubleheader, Rockies Win in 10, Blue Jays Win at Fenway

Game 1: Tigers 2, Yankees 0
Game 2: Yankees 8, Tigers 0
In the afternoon game, youngster Rick Porcello shut down New York going 7 innings of 4 hit ball.  I’m a huge fan on Porcello for so many reasons and love to see him pitch well whenever it is not against the Yankees.  A good sign for the Yanks was that Javy Vazquez finally threw a solid game.  He went 7 innings while giving up 5 hits and 2 runs.  In the 6th he gave up 4 singles and both runs …

Mets Rally in the 8th, Cliff Lee Gets First Win, Cueto Dominates in Pittsburgh

Mets 8, Nationals 6
Tyler Clippard finally took a loss as the Mets rallied with a 6 run 8th.  They have now won 10 out of their last 12 at Citi Field.  David Wright and Jason Bay both had 3 hits and the Mets bullpen was great after a poor start from Jonathon Niese.  The Mets have been a great team at home this year but they need to get it together on the road or else they won’t be keeping up with the Phillies for much longer.  They should get …

Nats Win Close One at Citi, Marlins Hand Cubs 6th Loss in 7 Games, Tigers Hold on vs Yanks

Nationals 3, Mets 2
Ryan Zimmerman and Adam Kenneday both went deep at Citi tonight as Washington continued its solid play.  The Nats are now in 2nd place in the NL East!  They’re only 1.5 back from the Phillies who are currently tied in their game with Colorado as a write this.  Washington has a -16 differential (16 more runs given up than scored) and are somehow 18-14.  I knew the Nats were going to be improved from last year after they drafted the Stras and made some good signings, but …

Mother’s Day Provides Some Serious Games!

First off, Happy Mother’s Day to all the mom’s out there checking out MLBtoday.net. I know there’s got to be a few million moms checking out our site daily, haha. What an incredible weekend, and what a ‘perfect’ game by Dallas Braden in Oakland. Truly incredible for him to do it on Mother’s Day, after losing his mother to skin cancer and with his grandmother in the stands. I can’t get over that… But here are the rest of the wraps around the majors!
Dodgers 2, Rockies 0

On a day when …

Dallas Braden Protects His Mound and Pitches a Perfect Game!

Athletics 4, Rays 0
Alex Rodriguez, meet Dallas Braden.
Oakland Athletics SP Dallas Braden has pitched a perfect game!

He becomes the 19th pitcher in big league history to pitch a perfect game, 27 up and 27 down! What an incredible achievement for a young pitcher! You better believe he was amped up after getting that last out too!
It took Braden 109 pitches to get all 27 outs and he picked up six strikeouts along the way. Braden used his changeup to perfection and his teammates used the large foul ground throughout the …

Saturday Highlighted by 3 HR Game, Cycle, and Walkoff Homer!

Yet another busy Saturday in the MLB, which included a three-homerun game, a player hitting for the cycle, a doubleheader, and a walkoff homer! Let’s get right to it!

Yankees 14, Red Sox 3
Part of the reason I hate the Yankees is because they always seem to field a team that can go out and score runs relentlessly. On Saturday afternoon in Boston, that was basically the case.
In the third inning, the Red Sox took a 3-2 lead. In case you forgot what the final score was, it was 14-3 Yankees; …
