Yankees Offense Explodes in Boston, Mets Win on Walkoff, Moyer Makes History with Shutout

Yankees 10, Red Sox 3
Nick Swisher put the Yanks up 3-0 with a 3 run homer in the 4th and Josh Beckett blew up in the 6th giving up 6 runs while plunking a few guys along the way.  Cano took a cutter off the left knee and left the game, Jeter was drilled in the back which forced in a run, and Cervelli was nearly hit in the head twice.  The Yankees bench was on the top step of the dugout but the situation did not escalate.  Instead, Phil Hughes went …

Halladay Shuts Down Cards, Nats Win Near No-Hitter, O’s Shutout Twins

Phillies 7, Cards 2
Roy Halladay improved to 6-1 on the year as the Phillies offense was led by a 3 hit, 3 RBI effort by Jason Werth.  The Phillies seem to be getting back on track after the Mets jumped them in the standings.  When this team starts to click, there is nobody in the NL who can beat them.  As much as I hate the city of Philadelphia, I have to admit that the Phils are a nasty squad.  An interesting stat that I found was that Pujols is …

Cards Lose a Close One, Twins Walk Off on Wild Pitch, ‘Pen Blows Lincecum W

Phillies 2, Cardinals 1 (10 innings)
Anytime Adam Wainright gets on the mound you know it’s a pitchers duel (or it may just be domination by Wainright and not a duel at all).  Tonight was the case with Hamels going against Wainright.  Hamels actually carried a shutout into the 9th and gave up back to back doubles with the last one going to Molina and his last batter of the night.  It was by far the best game Hamels pitched all year giving up that 1 ER in 8 innings of …

Orioles Embarass Red Sox, Rays Pull Out Pitcher’s Duel, + Much More Sunday Baseball!

Orioles 3, Red Sox 2 (10 innings)
This just makes me shake my head. The Orioles have the worst record in the majors, but they completed their first sweep of the Red Sox in Baltimore since 1974. Ty Wigginton provided the game winner on a double to deep center in the 10th inning off Boston closer Jonathan Papelbon.
This is the Orioles longest winning streak of the season (three), and they now have four wins against the Red Sox in 2010, out of their seven total wins. WOW.
So my question is: what …

Cain Dominates Rockies, Halladay Leads Phillies, Yanks Fall To Chi Sox

Giants 6 Rockies 1
Matt Cain went 8 innings giving up only 1 hit and no runs against Colorado.  San Fran got homers from Juan Uribe, Bengie Molina, and Aubrey Huff.  If Cain can pitch like he did today, the Giants could have one of the best 3-some of starters with Cain, Lincecum, and Zito.  I’m a big fan of the Giants mostly because Lincecum is the most exciting pitcher in the league.  Imagine this team in a playoff series with those pitchers.  They could be real tough to beat if …

Jeter Leads Yanks Over Chi Sox, Mets Roll Against Phillies, Rays Finally Lose

Yankees 6, White Sox 4
The Captain stepped up tonight.  Jeter had a 2 run homer in the 5th to tie it, then a 2 run triple in the 7th to put them up.  Jeter’s consistency is unbelievable.  Most people forget that he is now 35 years old and not the young prodigy he once was.  In the previous 14 seasons, Jeter has hit .300 in all of them but 3.  His worst season average was .291.  Rivera saved his 7th game of the year and has yet to give up a run.  …

Buck Goes Bango Three Times; No Pujols, No Problem in St. Louis

Going, Going, GOING, Gone

Blue Jays 6, Athletics 3
That’s right, three ‘going’s. That was the case for Jays catcher John Buck who went deep three times against Oakland.

It’s the first time in six years that a catcher slugged three homers, and Buck is not your prototypical power hitter either. He went deep in the third, fourth, and sixth, but failed to hit a fourth homer in the eighth inning. Although, the 10,000 fans in Toronto gave him a standing ovation as he jogged back to the dugout after flying out. Quite …

Phillies Salvage Game in SF, Mets CANNOT Be This Good, & More Early Wednesday Action!

You gotta love day games. Today’s wrap-ups focus on a busy schedule of day games in the MLB!

Phillies 7, Giants 6 (11 innings)

You wouldn’t think the Phillies would score seven runs in a game that Tim Lincecum starts for the Giants, but then again, you wouldn’t expect the light hitting Giants to beat Roy Halladay as they did two days ago.
The Phillies were on the verge of being swept in a horrific series by the bay in San Francisco. They were down to their final out, down by three runs, …

Cubs Win On Walkoff Walk, Boston Wins Shootout With Jays, Johnson Shuts Down Padres

Cubs 4, Nationals 3 (10 innings)
Aramis Ramirez worked a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the 10th inning as the Cubs climbed back to .500.  Ex-Yankee Brian Bruney did the honors of throwing 4 straight balls to Ramirez.  Thank God the Yankees got rid of him.  This is one of the most embarrassing things a pitcher can do.  Extra innings, bases loaded, and you can’t throw a strike?  Come on Bruney, you should be ashamed.  Maybe thats why you’re now on the Nationals instead of the Yankees.  On the …

Offense Reigns Supreme in AZ, Penny Proves Worth in SF, & David Price Finishes What He Started in TB

Diamondbacks 8, Phillies 6
Are you a fan of offense? Do you like homeruns? Do you step on pitcher’s mounds as you walk across them? Just kidding about that last one..haha. Well, if you like offense, then this is the series for you. The Phillies and the Diamondbacks are two of the best teams when it comes to using their bats, as you can see from this wrap-up.
Mark Reynolds, who is pretty much homer or strikeout, knocked a three-run homer in the fifth inning following a Kelly Johnson homerun. Both players …
