Battle Of One-Run Games, Nats Get Screwed

In St. Louis, the Cardinals took on the Brewers in a battle for 1st place.  The Cardinals had their ace on the mound, in Adam Wainwright, who was going against former Cardinals great Jeff Suppan.  Wainwright pitched a gem giving up only 2 hits in 8 IP, but one of those two hits was a solo homerun to Corey Hart.  The Cardinals offense scattered just 6 hits, all of which were off of Suppan in his 7 innings of work.  I gotta give the Brewers credit, Suppan threw 7 scoreless …

Angels SP John Lackey Ejected after 2 Pitches

Bizarre instance in Texas tonight, as Angels SP John Lackey was thrown out of the game after TWO pitches. Even more bizarre is that even though it is mid-May, this was Lackey’s first start of the season because of an injury. The leadoff batter for the Rangers, Ian Kinsler, took a pitch behind his back to start the first inning, and then he took a pitch in the ribs to end Lackey’s day.
Following the first pitch, Kinsler stared down Lackey, who just looked like he was shaking off the ‘bad’ …

A Note to Mariners Manager Don Wakamatsu

For those of you who didn’t stay up late on Friday night, you may not have noticed who closed out the game for the Seattle Mariners against the Boston Red Sox. Instead of using troubled closer Brandon Morrow, the Mariners decided to go with David Aardsma to pick up the final three outs. Does this idea sound familiar? If you read this blog daily, it should. For the last few days, Jason and I have been pledging for the Mariners to switch their closer role to Aardsma since Morrow has …

I Vow Never To Return…AGAIN!

Well I’ve about had it with Twins vs Yankee games.  Going into Friday night the Twins were 0-4 against the Yankees when I see them play (2 in Minnesota, 2 in NY).  My loving GF, Rachel, bought me 2 kick ass seats to Friday nights game when the Yankees took on the Twins.  My favorite pitcher, Franciso Liriano, was on the mound whom I’ve never seen pitch live.  Although he walked 6 guys he only gave up 4 hits and just one ER on one of the crappiest half swings …

Pete Rose Speaks Out on Steroids, but Supports A-Rod & Bonds

In an interview on “The Dan Patrick Show,” all-time hit king Pete Rose declared his support for admitted steroid user Alex Rodriguez, despite also believing that using steroids is far worse than gambling on baseball.
“I’m willing to give a guy a second chance,” Rose said in regard to backing Rodriguez, or any other admitted user of steroids.
In 1989, Rose was banned from the game for betting on games he managed for the Cincinnati Reds. Rose, 68, has never been added to the Hall of Fame ballot as a result.
Rose went …

NL Central Proving to be No Walk in the Park

Let’s take a quick look at the race toward first place in the NL Central in Thursday’s key games!

In Milwaukee, the Brewers completed the sweep against the Marlins, 5-3, through the powerful bats of Prince Fielder and Bill Hall. It was one of that games for the Brewers in which everything seemed to go smoothly. When Florida scored, Milwaukee was able to bounce back and score as well. Meanwhile, Dave Bush was pitching a great game and Trevor Hoffman notched his third save in as many days. The Brewers are …
