Another busy Sunday as each series wraps up. If you haven’t heard about how Stephen Strasburg’s second start went, click here. For a look at the rest of the MLB, look below!
Braves 7, Twins 3
When the Cardinals gave up on Troy Glaus this past offseason and he signed with the Braves, I really thought the Braves were out of their minds. They gave a guy who was previously on steroids and obviously washed up millions of dollars. As it turns out, they were smart to wait for him to catch …
2 games up, 2 wins down.
Playing in a city that knows a thing or two about young phenoms (LeBron James), Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg made his second start and earned his second career win against the Cleveland Indians in what ended up as a 9-4 final in favor of the Nationals. On Sunday, he showed much of the command he possessed in his first career start on Tuesday against the Pirates, but some technical mound issues slowed him down a bit as the game went on.
First let’s take a look …
Yankees 9, Astros 3
It isn’t really saying much this season when your team beats Houston but the Yanks put on a show today in the Bronx. Derek Jeter had 2 homers and Jorge Posada added a grand slam. Javy Vazquez came out with another solid outing and the Yanks took clinched yet another series at home this year. The Yanks are 21-7 at home this year. Some troubling news in NY was that Alex Rodriguez sat out with a groin injury. Not sure when he’ll be back but the Yanks …
For the second time this year, Interleague play resides over the majors. Friday night had some history and great games. Let’s get to it:
Red Sox 12, Phillies 2 – As good as the Red Sox offense was on Friday night, Phillies SP Jamie Moyer was that BAD. The 87-year-old Moyer couldn’t get any outs in the second inning with nine runs already crossing the plate. Welcome back to the American League, Jamie. They missed you.
Twins 2, Braves 1 – Francisco Liriano did his thing against the Braves. That is, he …
Interleague play returns to the MLB this weekend! Check out some of the best and most intriguing matchups of the weekend RIGHT NOW!
Chicago White Sox @ Chicago Cubs – The battle of ChiTown starts in the North Side. These two teams truly hate each other, but who can blame them? Both of these teams are easy to hate (i.e. AJ Pierzynski and Carlos Zambrano) so why wouldn’t they hate each other!
Houston @ NY Yankees – The last time these two teams met in New York the Astros threw a combined …
Busy day in the MLB before interleague play comes back on Friday. Here is highlights of EVERY game on the Thursday schedule!
Reds 7, Giants 6 – Once again, the Reds proved that the game isn’t over until it’s OVER. And usually you can replace the word ‘over’ with ‘when the Reds take a lead in the late innings’. Cincinnati scored three runs in the eighth to take another one-run home win and continue to roll and control first place in the NL Central. Seriously, the Reds amaze me. I feel …
Indians 11, Red Sox 0
It was 3-0 Indians going into the 8th inning but after the 8th it was 11-0. The first 9 Indians reached base in the bottom of the 8th which included a grand slam from Travis Hafner. Justin Masterson, who the Red Sox traded in the deal that sent Victor Martinez to Boston, threw a complete game, 2 hit shutout in the first time e faced his old team. Dustin Pedroia is only hitting .248 on the season with a .330 OBP. He needs to start playing …
